October 31 2011

Its halloween today, but Dìa de los Muertos isnt until tomorow technically. I plan on paying close attention to everything I see, like you ask Mom, but honestly I dont think anything will happen until after I have to be in the house. Sad. Nobody here decorates or does anything really. Elder Martinez is from Mexico City and says there they celebrate it big time like back home, but here in the peninsula they must just be party poopers i guess. The branch wont be having aparty anything. Im probably going to buy some candy and eat it all to celebrate by myself... and ice cream too. Every holiday calls for some ice cream.

This is going t be extremely short, due to the fact that E. Mtnz is sick, and could want to go back home at any moment. He woke up this morning with a slight fever and stomach pains. I will just get right down to it then.

We have been teaching some really great people over the past month or so, and they are all getting close to baptism. Its super exciting times for us! Two of them are former Jehovahs witnesses, and its super interesting, kinda sad, to hear them tell us all about it. One is a 30 or so year old women is is currently being disowned for listening to us, but she told us about how she got excommunicated from the JWs and now its a sin for the members to even talk to her. They actually say its OK to judge and condemn her. I was shocked to hear that. The other lady who used to be JW has some kind of  disease that affects her nerves, and she had little bodily control. I can be hard for her to talk, but she always tells us she feels calmer and more capable when we come around.

Hopefully within the next few weeks, we can get them to the water along with a few others. We are both doing really well (except with the E Mtzn being sick), and are excited to see whats around the corner. Its finally starting to coo off, and a few hurricanes have passed by ver the past weeks so we have been seeing plenty of rain. I love the rain. I would rather be soaking wet from the rain than soaking wet from the humidity.

How do you feel about your prayers?
Do you fast often for real purposes?
Whens the last time you went to the temple?
What do you take from scripture study?

These are 4 keys to measure how you are doing spiritual. Dont let any one of these falter, and you will see huge improvments. Much love to all.

Love,

Elder Kitterman
