Changes were yesterday. I got transfered to Playa Del Carmen!!!!
Im just kidding.... Heres to hoping. We both stayed. Its better this way. Everything has been going really great here, and we have some great stuff set up for this month. Speacking of months, september was the quickest month of my life. If they are all that fast from here on out I will be home in no time at all. Im glade we bothed stayed cause Ive finally got it all down here and I can stay with Elder Martinez to keep him focused.
The Gamboa family has a son coming home from his mission today. We eat with them every Sunday and they let us use their washer every P-day and are way awesome. But basically, the mom is one of the reasons why I fear coming home. Sunday when we were eating with them, she would start crying out of nowhere, and then stop and be extremely happy. This happened repeatedly. It wouldnt be so weird if it was a happy cry, but i wouldnt call what she did a happy cry... I dont even wanna know what your going to do Mom.
General Conference was amazing, as usual. All this week, when my comp would tell investigators about conference, he would almost always say "Its completely inspired. They dont even know what they are going to say until they are up there" After the third time, I had to break his heart and tell him they prepared something in advance always, but that didnt mean they didnt go by the spirit sometimes. He was devasted, but enjoyed conferenced just the same haha
We were looking for a refrence earlier this week when we decided to ask a few people sitting outside their house if they knew where he lived. They said no, but we told them who we were and they said we could talk for a little bit. Game on. So we gets to goin with the questions to get a feel for the family. Turns out four of the daughters of the were baptized like 12 years ago at very young ages and are very inactive now. But their mom, who we were mainly talking to was not baptized. She has since remaried to a much younger man, but are happy they say. When we first sat down she told us that "nobody can convince her", pretty much summorizing up all people that preach (us, JW´s, and random preachers from local churches). She seemed like a very firm and down to earth women, that has had a hard time or two. Withing just a few minutes she had pulled a complete 180 and was sharing with us things that were surprising her adult kids. At the end of the lesson, we invitred her to baptize, something we alwasy try to do, and she accepted. Her daughter looked like she was going to pass out from shock. We had her read 2 nephi 31 on the gospel and baptism, and when we asked what she thought about it she answered "magnificent. Its never to late and Im going to do it". You go girl.
Other than that we had some other pretty cool experience just following the spirit and doing the best with what we are given, cause thats what you do in life. There is a saying here in Mexico that goes "he thats gets mad, losses" and that couldnt be truer. Becoming impatient has never helped anybody, and most times, causes more problems. "All you need is love"
Well you know how it is. Peeps to see, busses to catch. Till next week. Adios
Love,
Elder Kitterman
